Gunnison Copper Overview
Gunnison Copper Corp. is the first company to consolidate the entire Cochise Mining District in Southwest Arizona. The district is under explored with significant resources and several development projects.
The company’s Johnson Camp Mine (JCM) is presently in construction. The operation is working with Nuton LLC, a Rio Tinto Venture, designed to restart the mine using NutonTM technologies, with first copper expected to be produced in H1 of 2025.
A comprehensive PEA was just completed on the Company’s “Gunnison Project”, which incorporates a large open pit of predominantly copper oxide mineralization approximately 2 kilometers south of JCM. The Project is a low cost, environmentally friendly being pure copper cathode via SXEW and is designed to produce around 167 million pounds of copper cathode annually.
The Company also owns a portfolio of adjacent exploration projects, including the historical Soth Star deposit and the Peabody Sill and the Strong and Harris deposits.
Industry-Leading Economics
A PEA has been completed on the Gunnison Copper Project Q4 2024
- Post-tax NPV 8% $1,260 million
- Total recovered copper 2,712 million pounds
- 175m lb per annum production rate
- PFS to be completed in 2026 (subject to financing)
The Johnson Camp Mine (JCM) is under construction
- Traditional open pit mine with copper oxide and sulfide leaching using the Nuton LLC’s, NutonTM technologies
- After Nuton Stage 2 is complete the remaining mine life can be progressed in JV with Nuton (initial 49%) or by licensing their NutonTM technologies.
- First copper expected to be produced in 2025
Strong and Harris has a completed PEA
- Post-tax NPV 8% $187 million
- 794m lbs of copper and 858m lbs of zinc in the resource plus silver credits.
- Significant upside possible in infill and extensional drilling (untested anomalies)
South Star is a historical copper resource with no work since the 1990’s.
The PEAs are preliminary in nature and includes inferred mineral resources that are considered too speculative geologically to have the economic considerations applied to them that would enable them to be categorized as mineral reserves. There is no certainty that the conclusions reached in the PEAs will be realized. Mineral resources that are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability.
This is a long section looking west showing Gunnison Copper’s resources. There is very little drilling over 1 km deep. Gunnison conducted an airborne magnetic and VTEM survey in 2021. Several porphyry style targets were developed from the data. The aim is to test these targets once funding is obtained. This could be a game changer for Gunnison Copper.
- Rural location (predominantly ranching/mining), low population density yet excellent access to infrastructure
- Low water consumption and low GHG footprint compared to traditional sulfide mining
- No tribal land or cultural sites. No threatened/endangered species or habitat. No National/State Forest land.
- 100% prior permitting success with EPA, ADEQ and Cochise County.
